Lo and behold! It’s this time of the year again! Student Committee for the Arts is looking for even more fantastic humans to join our team for the 2015-2016 school year. Our website lists a few of the events we have programmed throughout the years, but some of our favorites include~
– Annual Royce Hall concert with artists such as Thundercat, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Dirty Projectors, Portugal. the Man, Haim, Janelle Monae and many more.
Student Committee for the Arts at UCLA is proud to present Thundercat live at Royce Hall on Friday, May 29th, 2015 at 7p.m.
Opening acts include Teebs and student band Apollo Soul. Tickets are on sale to the public for $25-$35 with fees and can be purchased on Ticketmaster or at UCLA CTO. UCLA students with valid Bruincards get in for free, and those who RSVPed will receive their vouchers via email from UCLA CTO on Thursday, May 28th. The vouchers will be specific to your name and student ID number, and you will be able to pick up your ticket with the voucher and your Bruincard on Friday evening before the show. If you did not RSVP, there will be a standby line at the doors.
“Orcas” is the newest release by South American electronic folk band Lulacruza, featuring Alejandra Ortiz from Colombia and Luis Maurette of Argentina. Engineered by Vance Galloway, noted for his work with Nicolas Jaar, this album presents listeners with an intersection of traditional rhythms and instrumentation with modern technology. Expect whimsical guitar loops, soothing vocals, and an ethereal droning atmosphere throughout, with gorgeous thematic lyrics sung in Spanish.
The Student Committee for the Arts and UCLA Radio are proud to present this collaborative concert featuring many local artists from Los Angeles performing alongside our student DJ’s.
