SoCAl x SCA presents The Submarines and The Jakes

And even more SoCal music! This coming Thursday, May 7 in Covel Grand Horizons room at 7:30pm come and experience the Indie-rock sounds of The Jakes followed by The Submarines. The Jakes rose to fame opening for Kings of Leon in January and The Submarines have been featured in Nip/Tuck, Weeds, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, not to mention the Apple 3G iPhone ad! Student band The Relay will be opening the show.
The show is FREE, just be sure to pick up your tickets at CTO as soon as possible -- there are a limited number!

Humorous Writing Contest - WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED!

We have received numerous submissions for our Humorous Writing Contest and are proud to announce the writers of the winning submissions. Congratulations to:

Joe Tower (Graduate) - "The Monkey Killer"
Merica Merida Teng (Junior) - "Guinevere B. Save"
Diane Gurman (Graduate) - "Do the Math"

The winners received a pair of tickets to UCLA Live's presentation of David Sedaris on April 29, 2009, and had their spoken word piece shown in the West lobby of Royce Hall on the day of the show.

We would like to thank everyone for submitting their work. Look out for more opportunities from SCA.
