Tickets go on sale Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 a.m. for the general public, but the UCLA student presale for the concert will be from Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, Oct. 2, at 10 p.m.. (Click here to purchase your tickets; there is a two ticket maximum.) 

Tickets for students with the UCLA password will be $10 less than the general public ticket prices. There are two price levels for floor seats $79.50 ($69.50 UCLA) and $69.50 ($59.50 UCLA). There will be no pit/stage area for the floor. Seats in the stands will be $35 ($25 UCLA).

Remember, you can still stop by the Central Ticketing Office (CTO) and purchase discounted tickets there with your BruinCard! Ticket sales open to the general public on October 3rd at 10:00 a.m. but you can still buy tickets with the UCLA discount until tickets completely sell out.

To get the student discount, get the presale ticket code under “Event Reservations” on MyUCLA starting Tuesday 9/29 at 9:00 a.m..

Gregg Michael Gillis, better known by his stage name Girl Talk, is an American musician. Gillis, who lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has released four LPs on the record label Illegal Art and EPs on 333 and 12 Apostles. He began making music while studying biomedical engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He producesmashup-style remixes, in which he uses often a dozen or more unauthorized samples from different songs to create a new song; The New York Times Magazine has called his music “a lawsuit waiting to happen,” a criticism that Gillis has attributed to a mainstream media that wants “to create controversy where it doesn’t really exist,” citing fair use as a legal backbone for his sampling practices.

The Jakes rose to fame opening for Kings of Leon in January and The Submarines have been featured in Nip/Tuck, Weeds, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, not to mention the Apple 3G iPhone ad! To participate in SCA's humorous writing contest, you may submit a humorous short story that is 2,000 words or less to www.sca.ucla.edu by midnight of April 8. The story can be on any subject, as long as it is funny, interesting, and completely original! Three winners will be chosen by the Student Committee for the Arts. If you are chosen as a winner, you must allow SCA to film you reading your story aloud, as a spoken word piece. The film will be available as a link on the SCA and UCLA Live websites. Prizes include tickets to the David Sedaris Show on April 29, 2009, and autographed copies of David Sedaris's latest bestseller, "When You Are Engulfed in Flames." You will not get your story back once it is submitted. Happy writing!
