Co-Directors

Sophia Yi

Sophia Yi (she/her) is a fourth-year at UCLA studying Statistics & Spanish. Outside of class, she enjoys working with digital art and media, evident in much of the merchandise of SCA. Sophia joined Student Committee for the Arts in Fall 2024 and began co-directing in 2025. She is passionate about SCA’s mission for accessible art events and student engagement within UCLA. She is very excited to Co-Direct SCA with Maddie this year to continue building community through art.

Madeline Mejia

Madeline Mejia (she/her) is a third-year student at UCLA studying Sociology, Gender Studies, and Geography/Environmental Studies. She is the current co-director of the Student Committee for the Arts, joining in 2024.

Programming Directors

Maya Wood

My name is Maya Wood and I am a junior studying Communication and plan to pursue the Music Industry minor. My favorite part of SCA is seeing an initial, general idea become a full blown event with all of our hard work. I enjoy programming music events like “Voz Alternativa” and our annual Royce show. Outside of SCA, I like watching sports, finding new music, and reading.

Sydney Randolph

Sydney Randolph (she/her) is a third-year at UCLA studying Psychology. She grew up in San Diego, California, and loves spending time outdoors, at the beach, and in nature. She has a passion for all things live-music and arts, and is so excited to be involved in UCLA’s Student Committee for the Arts! Outside of her studies, find her at the climbing gym, beach, or a concert with friends. After graduating, she aspires to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist.

Marketing Directors

Kimberly Ruiz Alvarez

Kimberly Ruiz Alvarez (she/her) is a third-year Music Industry student with a passion for art, music, and marketing. She currently serves as one of the Co-Marketing Directors for the Student Committee for the Arts and loves bringing creative events to life. In her free time, you can find her hanging out with friends or binge-watching her favorite shows on Netflix. After graduating, Kimberly hopes to pursue a career in marketing or social media management within the music industry.

Airis Encarnacion

Airis Encarnacion is a photographer and designer, currently obtaining their B.A. in Design | Media Arts. They are passionate about arts education and making events engaging + accessible for everyone! When they’re not hard at work in SCA, you can find them frolicking at the park, rock climbing, or watching New Girl.

Design Directors

Yuri Espinoza

Yuri Espinosa is an undergraduate student at UCLA, and is completing her B.A. in Design Media Arts. She is passionate towards building a community and platform for visual and performing artists. Post-graduations she hopes to build a career as a multidisciplinary artist and designer, and to continue to harbor spaces for artists to grow their own practice.

Maggie Uceda

Hi I’m Maggie and I am a second year World Arts and Cultures major. I love music and art, whether it’s graphic design, playing the piano, or painting. I joined SCA last year and this year I am one of the Graphics directors. I love being a part of producing and promoting events and one of my favorite things is getting to work with peers and make the events we plan in SCA come to life.

Outreach Directors

Nayeon Kim

Nayeon Kim is a senior at UCLA studying Studies, Entrepreneurship, and Film, TV and Media. Believing in art’s ability to bridge differences, she is interested in creating spaces where people in diverse communities can engage, reflect, and connect.

Lindsey Byun

Lindsey Byun (she/they) is a fourth-year at UCLA studying Linguistics and Anthropology and Labor Studies. She truly believes in the power of art either as a creator or appreciator in various ways especially in time like this. While still exploring her path and unsure of what she’d like to pursue after graduation, her focus is on being present and making the most of her final year at UCLA. She is very excited to be part of the team!

Rhea Gil

My name is Rhea Gill and I am the social chair of SCA. This community has enriched my UCLA experience so much and I am so happy to be on the board this year. I am a 3rd year public affairs and dance double major who loves exploring the intersection between social change and the arts. In my free time I love to hang out with my friends, go to concerts, and watch movies.
