While the hustle of moving into new dorms, waiting in line for Bruin bash tickets, and the Enormous Activities Fair are signature moments here at UCLA, SCA’s Westside Welcome may just take the cake as one the most hype events of week 0’s slur of back to school festivities. Each year, SCA features an up&coming artists who is sure to be at the top of the charts in the following years after. This time is no different.
Channel Tres will be headlining this year, with DJ Yoink acting as a more than qualified opener. Channel Tres has made incredible waves in the industry over these past couple of years, with his hypnotic R&B beats catching the ear of npr and even the great Sir Elton John (Elton John’s Party Playlist featuring Tres’ “Controller” ) His debut single “Controller” set off his nearly unbelievable rise through the ranks as one of this year’s artists to watch. Tres released his self-titled debut EP this past summer, with many of the tracks already receiving praises from critics and audiences alike.
On Tuesday, September 25th at 9 p.m., Channel Tres will be taking the stage in Ackerman Grand Ballroom. As always, Westside Welcome is free for current UCLA students.
